“Donegal Women in Business, Mean Business”
“I am passionate about my work, I love working with clients from all over the globe and from all different industries and sizes and when I see a smile on a clients face or get an “I love it” email, then that makes everything I do worthwhile”. says Grace Ann. “However, being in business on your own can sometimes be isolating and that’s why networks like the Donegal Women in Business Network are a great source for sharing knowledge, meeting potential new clients, friends and mentors and learning from successful, start up and growing business people in our own county”.
The Donegal Women in Business Network is in existence now for 15 years and provides a valuable platform for the inspiration and capacity building of women in business through a variety of initiatives and opportunities and is making a contribution towards developing the next generation of women business. The network is also a sounding board for advice and giving support through their events, workshops & conferences held regularly throughout the county. The different categories of membership represent a cross section of businesswomen across different sectors. Members include entrepreneurs, women managing businesses for other owners, social entrepreneurs, thought leaders and senior decision makers.
We continually upgrade our various programmes and initiatives to keep abreast of what women need to sustain and grow their business. Programmes and activities range from the purely social, to the strongly business focused, such as skills development, mentoring, social media training, networking, financial presentations and guest speakers from the business and professional sectors. Over the last few years we have made significant networking links with our colleagues in Derry Women in Enterprise and Sligo Women in Business network.
Collectively within the network we have a huge knowledge and expertise and I believe we are making a difference to our economy. There are challenges of course, such as managing time, providing challenging programmes of interest for our members and providing value for money. However, I strongly believe that it is important for the growth of women in business to ensure that we have a voice in the county regarding business issues and in the importance of links with the Local Enterprise Office, who were instrumental in setting up the Women in Business Network, Donegal County Council, Enterprise Ireland, other support agencies and financial institutions that offer support to our members and engage with the Network.
It is my vision to increase the footprint and the voice of Donegal women in business both, in the county, and nationally, and to increase our membership significantly to make that happen. To that end, I would encourage any woman that is in business or managing a business in the county to make contact with us, join the network for only €40 a year, help yourself and let us help you to grow your business. I would also like to encourage all the agencies in the county to make contact with us so that we can add them our mailing lists and distribute anything that may be of relevance to our members.
