Two local Charities join forces to launch Charity Celebrity Cookery Demonstration with Kevin Dundon on Sept 12th in Letterkenny.

Two local Charities are cooking up exciting plans for a Celebrity Cookery Demonstration and evenings entertainment, when Kevin Dundon, one of Ireland’s most loved Celebrity Chef’s, will be in the Clanree Hotel, Letterkenny on Wednesday Sept 12th to host & entertain what will be a packed house for a special cookery demonstration. The Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital and Conwal Parish Church in Letterkenny’s Cathedral Quarter will jointly host this charity event & would like everyone to know that tickets are now on sale.

Conwal Parish Church’s Rev David Houlton, Rector of Conwal Union & Gartan Parish, is so excited as this will be the first fundraising event that he will host as new Rector of Conwal Parish Church. David & his family have been welcomed by the local community and he has plans to restore the Church Organ which is 130 years old to it’s full glory.

Commenting on the launch of the event David said “I am excited & delighted to be involved in this restoration and fund-raising event & knowing the money will go towards restoring our Church Organ which is not only part of our church’s history but part of the history of Letterkenny Town. I am looking forward to meeting everyone on the night & if anyone would like tickets please feel free to contact me or any member of our organising committee.”

Kenny Maguire from Maguire Cookery Demos, Letterkenny has brought cookery demonstrations to clubs, charities & food festivals the length & breadth of Ireland. He has worked on events such as The Taste of Donegal Food Festival, Bloom, Taste of Cavan, Taste of Kilkenny, The Galway Food Festival to name but a few. Brother of celebrity chef, Nevin Maguire, Kenny is well known amongst the celebrity chef world and he now brings Kevin Dundon and a fantastic nights entertainment to Letterkenny. Kenny is delighted that two local charities will benefit from the proceeds. Local Letterkenny man & comedian, Andy McGranaghan will be MC for the evening and we know already before the evening starts that it will be highly entertaining.

Kevin Dundon promises to serve up a most enjoyable evening, with cooking advice, inspiration, and lots of recipe hints and tips. His tasty recipes on the night will demonstrate how to get the most from the great value and fresh ingredients available from your local food producers and suppliers.

The spot prizes on the night range from vouchers to Kevin Dundon’s Cookery School in Wexford, 32” TV, Hotel breaks all over Ireland, Designer Jewellery to name but a few.

Local crafts people & local artisan producers along with local businesses will also be in attendance to showcase their wonderful products. So you won’t want to miss the chance of not only a great night out but to win some amazing prizes too.

Speaking on behalf of The Friends of Letterkenny University Hospital, Peter Cutliffe commented, “We are delighted that we will have Celebrity Chef Kevin Dundon here in Letterkenny for a very special Cookery Demonstration and that two local charities including The Friends of Letterkenny University will benefit. We always have fund raising ongoing at the FLUH, but we were approached by two Consultant Physicians, who specialise in respiratory medicine in the hospital here in Letterkenny.”

“Their main core of their scheduled work relates to the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic lung disease, inclusive of lung cancer. We have agreed to fund the development of a new forensic diagnostic service, E-BUS for Letterkenny University Hospital. EBUS stands for endo bronchial ultrasound, a medical procedure that is performed during bronchoscopy, to provide further information to diagnose or determine the stage of lung cancer. This relatively new technique allows doctors to view regions of the lungs and surrounding chest areas that have traditionally required more invasive surgical procedures to evaluate. The procedure is usually performed as an outpatient procedure or a same-day surgery and is considered a minimally invasive procedure.”

“The introduction of this new service will significantly enhance cancer services in Letterkenny University Hospital and we looking forward to welcoming you to this unique event with Kevin Dundon in Letterkenny.” concludes Peter.

Both the friends of Letterkenny University Hospital and the community from Conwal Parish Church are also delighted to have on board Kelly’s Toyota, Letterkenny & Mountcharles as their main sponsor of this event. They also would like to thank everyone who donated raffle prizes, booked stalls and bought tickets.
